For many years after initial settlement during the late 1700’s and early to mid 1800’s, the Town was primarily an agricultural settlement. The first post office in the Town was established in 1861.  In 1907, the Town of Indian Trail was formally incorporated. Since that time, the Town has gone from a predominantly rural agricultural settlement into a fast-growing Town of approximately 26,000 people, based on recent statistics.
